Edwards County Historical Society

Edwards County Historical Society is located at 212 W. Main St. Albion, ILL 62806 in the former Emmerson House. It doubles as a museum, with many rooms preserved from the pioneer days. The building itself was an early residence in Albion and is the birthplace of Illinois Governor Louis L. Emmerson and the home of Jesse Emmerson, son of Alan Emmerson.

The Historical Society has quite an extensive collection of memorabilia, photographs, family histories, a nice library and many historical courthouse records available for research.  The Edwards County Historical Society is open regularly on Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM.  If that time is not convenient, it is usually possible to arrange for someone to be there at another time, by appointment.  To arrange a special time for the historical society to be open, you can contact:
